Who is more powerful? DSS or The Court?

For the umpteenth time, the Department of State Security (DSS) has scoffed at a valid court order by refusing to release the Director of Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, just as it did with that of the magistrate court, Abuja about two months ago that sparked off demonstrations nationally and internationally, which also left many people dead and others wounded.

In what appears a show of its determination to do things its own way, regarding its relationship with court orders, the agency on Friday, practically sniggered at the orders of Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja, that the IPOB leader be released unconditionally.

Izuleaks had reported exclusively this morning that Kanu was not able to regain freedom after the court pronouncement on Thursday, because his lawyers were not able to secure the enrolment order from the court.

But armed with the document, they were able to approach the DSS today, only for the agency to rebuff the order on the ground that the Director General was not in the office and practically ordered the legal team out of their Abuja office.
